As the father of a marine that rescently came home after his tour, I found this movie extremly stirring, I cried several times to think of the family of this fine son. It hits so close to home as we are from Wyoming and I work near Clifton and Craig Co. May God bless and console this family. We owe them more thanks and gratitude than can be expessed for allowing their story to be shared in this movie.

This was recommended by my Marine son this Memorial Day Weekend,2010.I can't remember when a movie moved me so much.The story was almost identical to an online story that we had read just after Gulf War I... as an airline "ramper" I can vouch for the authenticity of how these "movements" affect not just airline personnel but our passengers as well.

as a former marine it makes me very proud to have others see how we take care of our own.no matter your branch of service we should all be proud of our men and women that allow us to live the lives we leed in this country.it is so true that freedom is not free and comes at a very high price.thank god we have people like thise that are so willing to lay their lives down for us.GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.

This was a movie that was recommended to me by Netflix based on my previous rental history. I had no idea I would be viewing such a powerful, emotional movie about patriotism, duty, honor and sacrifice. The respect and reverence paid to the remains of the fallen Marine brought me to tears many times. The scene on the road with the truck leading the procession and the cars following, all with their headlights on showing respect, was, in a small way, one of the more powerful emotional scenes and exemplified the respect and honor shown the young Marine all across the country.

Very powerful movie. Have to agree with other reviews that Kevin Bacon and all actors made a point of maintaining who the "star" of the movie is. It is the soldier who gave his life. I think that is what really makes the movie even more powerful. Really made me proud of our of our military and the care and respect shown to someone who gave the ultimate for us all. Thank you HBO, Kevin Bacon and all involved in this movie. From the screenplay, acting, directing and music score,once again, the one word that comes to mind..."POWERFUL".

I saw this movie last night on HBO and was moved to tears for almost the entire movie. I watched it with my fiance' who is retired Army and it even brought him to tears once. I can not say enough about the respect, care, and honor that this movie portrayed. As a non-military person it was very informative to say the least to see how our fallen heroes are laid to rest. They deserve nothing less because they have made the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you HBO for presenting such an intimate and enlightening movie about our fallen heroes.

I watch this movie in my hotel room, I did read about the movie when it was under production but did not know that it will come out so good....every scene is so touchy that it will not stop you cry...I am Muslim & I am US citizen & I am a flight crew for one of the airline & always give the most respect to our young brave men who are serving the country..I am going to buy this DVD for sure & will keep with my favourite collection also, I hope that everyone watch this movie at least once...I dont know how many times more I am going to watch it.

I watched "Taking Chance" on the airplane. As a member of the military, I've been through Dover AFB and have brought back flag draped caskets. This movie allowed the public to see how serious and respectful all branches of military service honor those that gave the supreme sacrifice. Kevin Bacon was superb. I also give kudos to Northwest Airlines and their assistance given to the film.

My brother Rick recommended movie to me. The fact I lost my brother in tragic accident soon after makes this movie mean even more to me. I admit being a veteran may biase my opinion, but you don't have to be a vet to appreciate the care some people give, and the extent they will go to for our service men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Kevin Bacon's performance in this movie I believe was his best to date. He played it low keyed , did not try to focus attention on himself or character. I believe the main character was the remains of the killed in action marine, and how Kevin Bacon and others inter acted with this now deceased young man. I love the scenes even from when the body is returned to U.S. and the care and respect and detail all the people involved gave almost like treating a loved one, very personal. I would love to believe that each and every KIA receives this same treatment. The scene after the body is flown home in comercial airliner and how the crew, passangers, and Kevin Bacon, ground crews etc show such respect, sorrow, makes me feel there is still hope for human race and what a loss we suffer in conflicts and wars. By the end of the movie I felt a personal loss of this young man, and how many others. I believe all supporting actors, story line etc where interwoven just right to make this a quiet respectful, but to me a moving and emotionaly powerful movie. I would rank this movie right along side "Something the Lord Made, John Adams, keep up the quality HBO
