I was really looking forward to getting this in the mail. I wanted to be able to show my kids and grand kids,
because I feel Larry Bird is one of the greatest players ever to play the game. But I can't, just to much vulgar language, especially by Mr. Gumble.

I first watched Magic & Bird on HBO with my adult son. It was hands-down the best documentary on ANY subject I have ever seen. Boy, did it bring back memories of when we had watched those two super-star players in person at the Cleveland Coliseum. Yes, we were Cavs fans, but we also loved the Lakers and especially Magic. One April 15th, we attended a Celtics game. We're in the habit of arriving very early. When we went to our seats, NO ONE else was in the entire arena EXCEPT Larry Bird and a ball boy. Bird must have taken 500+ shots (free throws, 3-pointers, jumpers, etc) and my son and I both agree our memories are he missed no more than MAYBE 3. What wonderful memories! Through this whole documentary memories and feelings came flooding back. After watching it, I knew I HAD to own it. Thanks to HBO Online, I was able to purchase one for myself and one for my son. Another great job HBO!

One of the best told stories of a match up and time when basketball was truly in need of heros. Basketball history has never been so inspiringly told or experienced. Very well done and a must see.

Gave this DVD to a close friend who loves Magic & the Lakers. I watched the documentary three times on HBO and showed it to my kids (ages 22 & 18) as well. Magic & Bird are among the very best BB players ever and made each other even better through their uncanny competitive parallel highways. Magic is an amazing human being and honestly & frankly describes his journey from MI to CA and the transformation from Earvin to "Magic." Bird tells about his family life and his father's example of what it means to "put your boots on and go to work." If you are a BB fan or just a life lessons guru, you need this DVD.

Of all the major sports, basketball is not high on my watch list. However this is the best documentary of any sport I have ever watched, not only focusing on the sport, but also on the human relationships which can develop between rivals in the least expected way. It will be hard to make a better documentary of any kind.

Great not only for a Laker or Celtics fan but just a basketball fan in general. Their lives, and how their stories come together, just amazing, I cried, I laughed, and I got a better understanding of the rivalry as a Celtics fan I have always been apart of.

Superb documentary. Just when I though I knew everything possible about these two superstars, this film illuminated a relationship with depth and breadth untold or unseen in any other TV report or sport story. Simply outstanding, start to finish.
