I only wish this show was offered in Bluray, but even in SD it is not only vissually appealing but spiritually uplifting.
Shows like the Sapranos and Boardwalk are like watching a train wreck, you know it is tragic, you know that some people will get hurt and others may die but you can't take your eyes off it even after it leaves you feeling hopeless, anxious, angry and afraid.
John from Cincinnati is like watching a sunrise or a really good sports events where both sides are flawless in their execution and both sides demonstrate the best character on the field; you leave feeling good about yourself and hopeful for the human race and still a bit amazed by what you see.
We truly need shows like this and I am hoping that HBO brings it back on 9/11/14... even though I accept that more than likely this reference was to John 14:9-11

Look, this show had great promise but it is unethical of HBO to sell it. The show was cancelled at a point where the story was at the equivalent of the first chapter of a book or the first 30 minutes of a movie. would you watch the first 30 minutes of a suspense thriller knowing that you don't get to see the rest of the story?

This is the only show i've ever made it a point to watch. Other shows that i've liked, i would only watch if it happened to be on at the time, but with John From Cincinatti, i anxiously awaited the next episode. What random turn of events would happen next? "I don't know Butchie, instead"! I love it!. . I was so disappointed when the show was cancelled after the first season, leaving so many questions unanswered.

J.F.C was very original and intelligent. Good story lines and realistic sets and characters. It was not a cast of the usual bunch of plastic skinny little girls and boys type show, so it was more realistic than most series are. I miss that show very much!!!

Rewatching JfC, I realized I'd forgotten just how funny it is. If you like absurd humor, you should like this show - it's loaded with laughs. The writing and performing are top-notch. It's the weirdest farce I've ever seen, but it works! I'm only sorry HBO seemed to give up on it early, cramming 13 episodes into the space of 10 (maybe it wasn't HBO, but David Milch - anyway, too bad). However, I feel lucky to have seen such a smart show on television at all.

When this was on HBO as a series, I could not wait for the next episode...this was the most original & engaging show. I wish there were more episodes, because you fall in love with each & every character...so I really miss this show & hope to see it back in the future!!

Of course the show was a superstar, and was crossed-out. Humm, I've been here before like...Deadwood, Carnival. These are shows of supreme quality,worthy of awards YET to be established.
Please take note: These shows have long past yet I felt compelled to leave my 2cents. At least H.B.O. has Ole Bill M. and B.A.D. to distract us of these superior shows. Oh, and what about the down and dirty Generation Kill...todays veterans could use something acknowledging their torment and issues.
Come on guys don't sit on the sidelines, get something juicy going.

This was an amazing series I can't believe they dropped it! I so want to learn what happens next with John, butchie and the whole Yost clan.
The storyline is original and keeps you guessing, the characters are flawed like the real people I know, and the show had a real life gritty feel to it. I loved it and fervently hope it returns with a season 2 if for nothing else to give us closure!
